The Purest International Political Economist of All: The Centenary of Albert Hirschman
20:27 - By Vinicius Rodrigues Vieira
Professor Albert O. Hirschman, who passed away in 2012 at age 97, would be 100 years-old this year. In the 2014 World Congress of Political Science, IPSA and the RC51 honoured him with a roundtable formed by professors Lourdes Sola and Laurence Whitehead (current committee's chair and vice-chair respectively), as well as David Baldwin, from Princeton University, and Dani Rodrik, from Harvard University and then the Albert O. Hirschman Professor at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton. |

Professor Sola published earlier in 2015 a review essay on Professor Hirschman's biography written by Jeremy Adelman, entitled "Worldly Philosopher: The Odyssey of Albert Hirschman" (Princeton University Press, 2013). The essay, which came out in the European Review of International Studies, provides not only an overview of the book, but also remembers Hirschman's key contributions to the analysis of political-economic issues in 20th Century Latin America.
